The Project

Israel70-Building Artistic Connections offers an opportunity for school aged children to explore, connect and reflect upon the cultural, artistic and historical narratives of Israel via a selection of objects from ten Israeli museums. This innovative and exciting international programme is being run in twenty five Jewish primary and secondary schools in the UK, culminating in an international celebration and exhibition in the UK and in Israel around Yom Ha’atzmaut 2018.

Objects within the catalogue include several portraits by Reuven Rubin, The Shrine of the Book, The Tower at the Tower of David Museum, the original words of the Hatikva and two suitcases which tell very different stories of aliya.

The children will:

  •  Research and select a museum object from a comprehensive catalogue of options

  • Discover different Israeli museums, cultural centres and historical sites

  • Produce an online journal of discoveries, reflections and ideas

  • Participate in the production of a final creative composition

  • Take part in an in-school exhibition displaying all student final pieces (before submission date)

  • Engage with Israeli museum professionals and their collections

  • Have a chance to be represented in the Israel70 international exhibition to be held in Israel and England

  • Be able to visit all the participating Israel museums free of charge throughout the duration of the programme.
